Romantic Melodies from PLAY GYPSY ROGUE by RABB JÓSKA
The GYPSY CELLAR "little café" where the candlelight flickers and the Gypsies play on Shimmering Strings of Violins, brought to you by RABB JÓSKA and his Romantic Magyar Violin. The café is a rendezvous where lovers from all over the world meet.
Enchanting melodies lift you into a land of make-believe, in Continental style, bringing musical Europe into your heart.
RABB JÓSKA grew up with a Magyar cultural background and soon learned to interpret music in a European style with all the fire and passion of his heritage, reminiscent of the Gypsies of old.
RABB JÓSKA appeared in many famous operettas and during World War II, toured Continental Europe, playing his fiery, yet tender and lilting Gypsy melodies in the various hospitals for American G.I.s. After the war, he studied in London.
Upon his return to the United States RABB JÓSKA’s love for Romantic Strings music took him on a café circuit. At that time, he also appeared on his own radio and television “ROMANTIC STRINGS SHOW.”
The highlight of his career came when he accepted an offer to accompany an artist he had the highest regard for. He joined the beautiful, internationally known movie star and singer, Ilona Massey , on her musical tour.
“RABB JÓSKA has just returned from a continental tour of Budapest and Vienna where he was able to see in the hearts of people – to hear their laughter – their gypsy music, so filled with Love and Beauty, which spoke of the “Blue Danube,” The “Tokay Hills,” and the memories of an era that will live forever. In this album you will hear RABB JÓSKA’s “Gypsy Violin Play” with all the fervent passion of his rich Hungarian Heritage.”
RABB JÓSKA, the idealist, always dreamed of having his own “little café” – a Shangri-La for lovers of European culture complete with Continental atmosphere; one hundred years removed from modern times.
He found such a place, quickly transforming it into an authentic version of a GYPSY CELLAR complete with genuine oil paintings and wrought iron railings. In the candlelight atmosphere, drinking European wines, you imagine yourself back in old Budapest, Heidelberg, Vienna, Naples, Rome, or wherever your dreams are.
